Former Bollywood superstar Mamta Kulkarni recently broke her silence on a controversial semi-nude photo shoot from her past. Rising to fame in the 1990s with her stellar performances, Kulkarni returned to the limelight after living abroad and taking sanyas. The actress faced various controversies during her career, including explicit photo shoots and alleged ties to drug dealers. In December 2024, she made a comeback to India after 25 years and embarked on a new journey in her life. Recently, she appeared on a popular television show, ‘Aap Ki Adalat,’ where she discussed her past photo shoot.
Kulkarni explained that when she did the photo shoot for Stardust magazine’s cover, she was a ninth-grader and the image was not inappropriate for her at the time. She mentioned that she was a ‘virgin’ at the time, which might be hard for many to comprehend. Kulkarni further stated that the common perception about young actors is that they can do anything to enter Bollywood, but that was not the case for her. She expressed that she was very young at the time and did not understand nudity. She clarified that nudity should not be equated with vulgarity for someone who is not sexually aware. When asked if she performed bold poetry dances, she mentioned that even famous actress Madhuri Dixit does not pay attention to such poetry and focuses on dance steps instead.
Regarding her decision to take sanyas, Kulkarni stated that it brought peace and tranquility into her life. Despite the controversies of her past, her return has been welcomed by fans, showing support for her new journey.
