Injury Casts Shadow Over Series as Player Rushed to Hospital
Pakistan’s crucial second one-day international against Bangladesh was marred by a significant injury to all-rounder Hussain Talat, who suffered a shoulder injury while fielding at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
Dramatic On-Field Incident
The injury occurred during the sixth over of Bangladesh’s innings. Talat, in a desperate attempt to stop a boundary from Litton Das, collided with the advertising hoardings at deep cover. The 30-year-old immediately showed signs of extreme discomfort and required urgent medical attention on the field before being stretchered off and substituted.
PCB Confirms Hospital Evaluation
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a statement confirming the injury. “Pakistan all-rounder Hussain Talat sustained a shoulder injury while fielding during the second ODI against Bangladesh,” the board stated. “Following the initial assessment, he has been taken to a hospital for a detailed examination. The nature and extent of the injury will be determined after the doctors complete further medical evaluation.”
Major Setback for Touring Side
The potential loss of Talat represents a serious blow to Pakistan, who entered the match trailing 1-0 in the three-match series. The fixture was a must-win contest to keep the series alive. Prior to the injury and a subsequent hailstorm that interrupted play, Pakistan had posted a competitive total of 274 runs, powered by half-centuries from Maaz Sadaqat (75) and Salman Ali Agha (64). Bangladesh’s chase was at 27/3 when weather intervened.
The injury update leaves Pakistan’s team management awaiting crucial medical reports as they assess their options for the series decider.
