Pakistan, Jordan Condemn Israeli Actions in Gaza and Al-Aqsa

Pakistan, Jordan Condemn Israeli Actions in Gaza and Al-Aqsa

Diplomatic tensions in the Middle East took center stage as Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, engaged in a crucial telephone dialogue with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi. The high-level exchange focused squarely on the deteriorating humanitarian and security situation in Palestine, with both nations voicing sharp criticism of ongoing military actions.

Deep Concern Over Military Operations

According to an official statement from the Foreign Office spokesperson, the conversation was dominated by a shared and profound unease regarding Israeli military operations. The ministers specifically highlighted the devastating impact of the ongoing campaign in Gaza and the escalating volatility in the occupied West Bank. The dialogue underscored a unified stance against the violence that has gripped the region.

Condemnation of Al-Aqsa Incursions

A central point of the discussion was the repeated incursions by Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. Both leaders did not mince words, strongly condemning these actions alongside the stringent restrictions imposed on Palestinian worshippers. The joint statement characterized these moves as provocative violations that desecrate the sanctity of the holy site.

The leaders warned that such actions do not exist in a vacuum. They argued that these provocations actively heighten regional tensions and systematically undermine any remaining prospects for a sustainable peace process. The conversation reflected a strategic alignment on the need to protect religious sites and maintain the historical status quo.

Strategic Diplomatic Moves and Regional Stability

The diplomatic strategy extended beyond condemnation. The two foreign ministers deliberated on a proposal put forward by Jordan to convene an emergency meeting of Arab and Islamic countries. The objective of this proposed summit is to formulate a coordinated response to the worsening crisis. Foreign Minister Safadi took a moment to appreciate Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role, acknowledging Islamabad’s consistent efforts to promote regional peace and stability.

Unwavering Support for a Two-State Solution

In a reaffirmation of long-standing policy, Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He stressed Islamabad’s backing for a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace. The Deputy Prime Minister was explicit in detailing Pakistan’s principled position, which calls for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.

The telephonic diplomacy signals a continued push by Muslim-majority nations to amplify the call for a ceasefire and a return to internationally recognized legal frameworks for resolving the conflict.
