Pakistan Vows Support for Kashmir Self-Determination

On the anniversary of Accession to Pakistan Day, the nation’s top leadership delivered a unified message, reiterating the country’s steadfast diplomatic, political, and moral for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The statements emphasized the imperative of resolving the longstanding dispute strictly in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Historic Resolution Remembered

The occasion marks the anniversary of the resolution adopted by the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in Srinagar on July 19, 1947. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described this historic act as a milestone reflecting the collective political aspirations of the region’s Muslims. He stressed that the day symbolizes the enduring bonds between Pakistan and Kashmir, forged through shared history, faith, culture, and geography.

“The resolution truly reflected the collective aspirations of the Kashmiri people and marked a milestone in their freedom movement,” the leadership noted, highlighting that the commitment to joining Pakistan was demonstrated even before independence.

Calls for International Accountability

President Asif Ali Zardari urged the global community to take serious notice of alleged human rights violations in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. He called upon the United Nations to ensure the implementation of its relevant resolutions, asserting that lasting peace and prosperity in South Asia are inextricably linked to a just settlement of the dispute.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi echoed these sentiments, saluting the courage and resilience of Kashmiris in the face of what he described as Indian atrocities. “The people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers,” Naqvi stated, adding that the Kashmiri people possess the fundamental right to determine their own future.Tribute to Sacrifices and Resilience

Addressing party workers in Muzaffarabad, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of Kashmiri migrants, martyrs, and Hurriyat leaders. He stated that the freedom enjoyed today is built upon these sacrifices and described the relationship between Pakistan and Kashmir as a bond forged through shared blood and commitment.

“The value of Kashmiri migrants’ sacrifices is immense,” Asif said, while also honoring the armed forces and veterans. He acknowledged that the historic bond continues to face challenges but reaffirmed the commitment expressed by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The unified statements from Islamabad concluded with a firm reiteration that Pakistan will continue its unconditional and principled support for the Kashmiri people’s inalienable right to self-determination.
