In an outspoken critique, Saudi Arabia’s former intelligence chief, Prince Turki al-Faisal, has dismissed the Gaza plan proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump as unfeasible. He urged Washington to provide support to keep the people of Gaza on their land. During an interview, Prince Turki emphasized that the American president’s plan is unacceptable and cannot be marketed in any form.
Prince Turki proposed the idea of introducing a new Marshall Plan for Gaza, led by the United States, focusing on the reconstruction of the region. He highlighted the existence of a comprehensive Arab peace initiative, suggesting that it offers the best alternative for ending the conflict and establishing peace in the region. He emphasized that this initiative could play a crucial role in bringing stability to the Middle East.
Drawing parallels with history, Prince Turki referenced the original Marshall Plan, which was approved by the United States for the reconstruction of Europe following World War II, providing economic assistance that enabled development and stability. He suggested a similar approach could be adopted for Gaza, allowing its residents to live peacefully on their land.
Prince Turki stressed the need for the international community to take practical steps to ensure the people of Gaza remain rooted in their homeland. He underscored the potential of a Marshall Plan-style initiative to replicate the success seen in post-war Europe, where economic aid facilitated prosperity and residents remained in their native regions.
