In a move welcomed by forward-planning travelers, France’s national railway company, SNCF, has announced a significant extension to its advance booking window. Following successful tests on southeastern routes, the company will now allow tickets to be reserved up to six months in advance for all its TGV Inoui services, doubling the previous three-to-four-month limit.
Summer 2026 Tickets Now on Sale
The new policy takes effect immediately. As of Wednesday, March 11, passengers can purchase tickets for travel between July 4 and December 12, 2026. This extended window aligns with the planning schedules of the tourism industry and provides greater flexibility for customers organizing their trips.
“Tests confirmed both the robustness of the technical solutions and the marked interest of travelers in increased anticipation of their bookings,” SNCF stated. “This possibility is opening for all TGV Inoui to offer better coherence with tourism offer planning deadlines, while meeting our customers’ expectations for flexibility and travel preparation.”
Aligning with European Standards
The six-month booking horizon has long been standard for SNCF’s European destinations and its low-cost Ouigo service. It also matches the offer from direct competitor Trenitalia, which operates services to Lyon, Marseille, and Milan.
Increased Capacity on Popular Routes
In a separate enhancement for 2026, SNCF is adding 200,000 extra seats on TGV Inoui services to Marseille and Nice during the spring and autumn seasons, supplementing the increased summer capacity.
On the southeastern axis, for the third consecutive summer, an additional 60,000 seats will be available for journeys between Paris and the Alps, specifically to Annecy. Weekend services to and from Strasbourg, as well as routes to La Rochelle, Quimper, and Perpignan, will also see boosted TGV Inoui offerings for the summer period.
