Hyderabad Kingsmen secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Islamabad United in the 21st match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Sunday. The win marks a significant turnaround for the tournament debutants, who have now registered back-to-back victories.
Clinical Chase Seals the Win
Chasing a modest target of 154, the Kingsmen reached 154 for the loss of four wickets with 11 balls to spare. Captain Marnus Labuschagne anchored the innings with a composed, unbeaten 61 off 53 balls, hitting six boundaries. He was well-supported by a brisk 30 from 16 balls by Maaz Sadaqat and a 35 from Saim Ayub. Glenn Maxwell provided the finishing flourish with a quickfire 21 not out from just nine deliveries.
Bowlers Set Up the Victory
Earlier, Labuschagne’s decision to field first proved astute as his bowlers restricted the three-time champions to 153 for 9. Debutant Asif Mehmood was the standout performer, delivering a sensational four-wicket haul for just 18 runs, including three wickets in the final over. Mohammad Ali provided crucial support with two wickets.
For Islamabad United, opener Devon Conway top-scored with 45, while Mark Chapman contributed 42. However, regular wickets and Mehmood’s late onslaught prevented them from posting a more competitive total. The result solidifies the Kingsmen’s mid-table position as the PSL 11 season progresses.
