RAWALPINDI — Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Saudi Minister of Defence HRH Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz have reaffirmed their commitment to joint efforts to confront attacks targeting the kingdom, in line with the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
According to a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two leaders reiterated that commitment during a meeting in which they discussed the recent security situation and attacks targeting Makkah al-Mukarramah, as well as civilian and economic facilities in the kingdom.
Coordinated Efforts Under the Makkah Pact
Both sides underscored the importance of continuing coordinated efforts to address the attacks within the framework of the agreement. They also welcomed the outcomes of the meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of countries participating in the Makkah pact.
Beyond the immediate security concerns, the discussions covered matters related to regional security and defence cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Delegations at the Talks
The Saudi side was represented by Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Oyayari, Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, and Advisor to the Minister of Defence for Intelligence Affairs Professor Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif.
Field Marshal Asim Munir was accompanied by a Pakistani delegation during the meeting.
