In a shocking development, a 17-year-old has reportedly confessed to carrying out a grenade attack at a community bar in the Olympic Village area of Grenoble, which left several people injured. The incident, which occurred on February 12, 2025, resulted in approximately a dozen injuries, with two to three individuals suffering severe wounds.
According to reports from Le Parisien, the teenager was detained on February 19 in Renage, near Grenoble, by local gendarmes. The arrest was initially made on charges of weapon possession, but during the process, the young man allegedly admitted to being the perpetrator of the grenade attack.
The Lyon prosecutor’s office, which is overseeing the investigation into the grenade incident, confirmed that the minor is currently in custody. The arrest was made after he was found with a pump-action shotgun in a public area. An inquiry has been launched, focusing on charges of “possession of a category B weapon, attempted voluntary manslaughter in an organized group, and conspiracy to commit a crime in an organized group.” This investigation is managed by the DCOS 38.
However, the prosecutor’s office clarified that the current detention is part of a separate investigation from the one concerning the grenade attack in Grenoble on February 12. The authorities continue to probe the violent incident that has shocked the local community.
Further updates will follow as the investigation progresses, and local residents remain on edge as the full details of the attack and its motivations are yet to be fully uncovered.
