BIEK Announces 2026 Intermediate Part-I Results with New 40% Passing Threshold

The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has announced the results of the 2026 annual examinations for Intermediate Part-I across all major groups, introducing a revised grading system that requires candidates to score at least 40 per cent in each paper to be considered passed.

Results Across All Groups

Controller of Examinations Zarina Rashid shared the results, which cover Science Pre-Medical, Science General, Commerce Regular and Private, Arts Regular and Private, Special Candidates (Arts Regular) and Home Economics groups.

  • Science Pre-Medical: 25,157 candidates registered, 24,544 appeared, and 11,966 passed all six papers.
  • Science General: 30,991 registered, 30,386 appeared, and 15,036 passed all six papers.
  • Commerce Regular: 23,549 registered, 22,693 appeared, and 9,332 passed all seven papers.
  • Commerce Private: 1,485 registered, 1,413 appeared, and 628 passed all seven papers.
  • Arts Regular: 11,171 registered, 10,678 appeared, and 3,748 passed all six papers.
  • Arts Private: 1,702 registered, 1,623 appeared, and 692 passed all six papers.
  • Special Candidates (Arts Regular): 99 registered, 97 appeared, and 58 passed all six papers.
  • Home Economics: 146 registered, 141 appeared, and 41 passed all seven papers.

Electronic Marking for Science Subjects

The board said all elective science subjects were assessed electronically using modern Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) and electronic marking systems.

New Grading System Introduced

BIEK said the new grading system was introduced in accordance with decisions by the Inter Board Coordination Commission (IBCC) and the Sindh government’s Universities and Boards Department. Under the revised rules, candidates scoring less than 40 per cent in any paper will be classified as “Ungraded” and will not be considered to have passed that paper.

Such candidates will have to retake the relevant paper if they meet the other eligibility requirements for appearing in the examination.

How to Check Results

The results for all groups have been uploaded to the board’s official website. Candidates can also check their results through the BIEK official Android application, available on the Google Play Store by searching for “BIEK”.
