New Law in France Requires Registration and Weekly Activities for Unemployed Individuals
Starting from January 1, 2025, unemployed individuals in France will be required to register on the France Troll platform and participate in 15 hours of activities every week to be eligible for the Revenue of Solidarity Active (RSA) assistance. This new legislation has been introduced with the aim of facilitating access to full employment. Laurent Pal, the regional director of France Troll, emphasized that the term “activity” should be used instead of “work.” He further stated that the purpose of this law is to remove barriers to employment opportunities so that individuals can access job opportunities.
The 15 hours of weekly activities will come in various forms, such as CV writing workshops, acquisition of digital skills, or confidence-building exercises. Additionally, individuals will be provided with autonomy periods to search for potential employment and meet with various employers. Those in proximity to job opportunities will be offered further advancement opportunities, such as 15-day internships. The objective of these activities is to secure a stable job, whether temporary or permanent.
The assistance provided by France Troll is not limited to professional aspects only. Laurent Pal provided an example of how an individual was assisted in receiving medical treatment for dental issues. Furthermore, some individuals are also being helped in obtaining driving licenses, as transportation can be a significant barrier in job searches. It is important to note that these measures are not uniform for every individual. For instance, single parents, individuals nearing retirement age, and those with disabilities may be exempted from these activities or provided with suitable assistance based on their circumstances.
Laurent Pal further explained that sometimes individuals’ projects do not align with reality, necessitating additional practical guidance. Therefore, projects of this nature will be tailored according to individuals’ needs and circumstances.
The new legislation mandates that unemployed individuals participate in 15 hours of activities as part of efforts to secure employment.
