The simmering tensions of road rage are familiar to many, often culminating in shouted insults or, at worst, a physical altercation. But a recent incident near Claye-Souilly in Seine-et-Marne spiraled into a shocking episode of orchestrated violence, leaving two men hospitalized and stripped of their belongings. “It was almost like a stagecoach attack,” a source close to the investigation confided.
A Nighttime Confrontation on the N3
The chain of events began in the early hours between June 1 and 2, at the junction of the N3 and D212 roads. A maneuver by the 25-year-old driver of a Peugeot 208 allegedly angered the 20-year-old driver of a Volkswagen, which was carrying three other young men. In a dangerous escalation, the Volkswagen driver reportedly overtook the Peugeot on the right, using the emergency lane.
Violent Assault and Theft
The Volkswagen then braked suddenly, causing a collision. Its four occupants immediately exited the vehicle and violently assaulted the Peugeot’s driver and his passenger. During the attack, the driver’s glasses were shattered, and his mobile phone along with 50 euros in cash were stolen. As police officers arrived at the scene to intervene and arrest the four Volkswagen occupants, the two victims from the 208 were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Suspects Deny Violence, Await Trial
The suspects were taken into custody at the Villeparisis national police station on charges of aggravated robbery committed by a group. During questioning, they denied any physical violence, claiming they had merely extracted the two men from the crashed car. All four have been released pending their trial, scheduled for December 29 at the Meaux criminal court.
