Just hours before David Guetta took the stage for the first of three monumental concerts at Stade de France, a message of support arrived from a place higher than any VIP section. The global DJ received an emotional video directly from the International Space Station, by French astronaut Sophie Adenot.
“It’s incredible,” Guetta exclaimed after watching the transmission. The artist is performing three consecutive sold-out shows at the national stadium in Saint-Denis on June 11, 12, and 13.>
A Soundtrack for Spaceflight
In the video, Adenot spoke from the ISS cupola with the breathtaking curve of Earth visible behind her. “I really wanted to send you this little message because your music has always accompanied me,” she said. “During training already, and also on the day of the launch. I chose ‘I’m Good’ when we were driving to the launch pad.”
Adenot, who has been in space since February, continued her heartfelt tribute. “Thank you for everything you do, your great music, all the good vibes send to everyone. It’s my turn to send you good vibes now, and all the best for your entire concert tour, it’s going to be brilliant.” She added, “Everyone is going to love it, I’m sure.”
An Emotional Pre-Show Moment
Guetta was visibly moved by the cosmic shout-out. “I’m very emotional. I was already very emotional because we are at the Stade de France getting ready,” he confessed. He responded to the astronaut with gratitude and admiration, saying, “Thank you so much for your message, it really touches me deeply. Congratulations also for everything you do, it’s incredible. What courage!”
The encouraging words seemed to work their magic. The first night captivated the 80,000 fans in attendance, featuring a surprise appearance by Jennifer Lopez and a spectacular fireworks display.
Adenot concluded her video with a promise for the future: “See you soon, maybe one day we’ll meet when I return to Earth.” Guetta responded in kind, “I hope meet you.” The astronaut is on a nine-month mission and is not expected to return until November, but a meeting between the two stars is clearly on the agenda.
