PTI Accuses Govt of Violating Court Order on Imran

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Wednesday accused the federal government of violating a Supreme Court directive by transferring party founder Imran Khan to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) instead of Shifa International Hospital.

Speaking to journalists in the federal capital, Gohar said there was no ambiguity in the apex court’s order mandating a medical examination of the former prime minister at Shifa International Hospital. He termed the government’s failure to implement the court’s directive “unfortunate” and questioned how democracy could function when compliance with judicial orders became difficult.

PTI Questions Government’s Hospital Decision

The PTI chairman said the government’s decision to take Imran Khan to a different medical facility, without providing sufficient details, was unexpected. He maintained that the Supreme Court’s order had not been followed and reiterated his party’s desire to resolve political disputes through dialogue.

“We will continue trying to resolve political issues through political means,” Gohar said, adding that meaningful negotiations could not take place under such circumstances.

The remarks came three days after the Supreme Court ordered that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for a medical check-up and comprehensive examination. However, the government subsequently transferred him to PIMS, where doctors examined him before he was taken back to Adiala Jail late at night.

Government Says Imran Khan in Good Health

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar later said on social media that Imran Khan was in good health. The government has not yet issued a detailed response to PTI’s allegations regarding the hospital transfer.

PTI leaders have repeatedly raised concerns about Imran Khan’s medical care since his incarceration. The party has demanded that he be examined by independent physicians at a facility of his family’s choosing, citing health complications.
