KARACHI — The judicial commission investigating the Mir Raza case has decided to obtain written responses from senior police officers rather than summoning them for in-person questioning, according to an order detailing its latest proceedings.
Commission Records Key Statements
The order, issued after the commission’s hearing the previous day, states that former investigating officer Shabbir Laghari recorded his statement during the proceedings. The commission also heard the position of Ahmed, Mir Raza’s business partner.
Ahmed requested time to meet and speak with Mir Raza’s family. According to the order, he may submit any additional statement through an affidavit after consulting the family. Any statement submitted by affidavit will also be made available to the public.
Sealed Daily Diaries Received
The commission received the daily diaries of the Ferozabad and Gulistan-e-Johar police stations in sealed condition. However, the statements of witnesses connected to the daily diaries had unfortunately already been recorded.
The commission returned the daily diaries in the same condition to the Sindh government’s focal person.
Bank Officials Commended
The commission also expressed appreciation for the cooperation extended by the CEO and divisional head of a private bank.
The decision to seek written responses marks a procedural shift in the inquiry, which continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the Mir Raza case.
