KARACHI — Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi conducted an inspection of immigration facilities at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, reviewing the procedures applied to passengers departing abroad and directing officials to tighten scrutiny of travel documents.
Minister Reviews Counters and Passenger Feedback
During the visit, Naqvi examined immigration counters and spoke with departing travellers to gather feedback on the immigration process and the facilities available to them. He also reviewed the travel documents of several passengers and instructed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials to verify their credentials.
The interior minister expressed satisfaction with the arrangements put in place by the immigration team, noting that the deployment of additional personnel at the counters had helped reduce lengthy queues and made the process more convenient for travellers.
Officials Praised for Improved Processing
Naqvi commended Deputy Director Immigration Shehzad Akbar for his performance and his contribution to improving immigration arrangements at the airport.
Facilitation Paired With Strict Documentation Checks
The minister directed officials to ensure passengers receive all possible assistance during immigration checks. At the same time, he stressed that travellers with incomplete or unverified documentation must not be permitted to proceed with their journeys.
The directives reflect a dual emphasis on facilitating legitimate travellers while tightening controls against those attempting to travel with inadequate or fraudulent papers.
