RAWALPINDI — Pakistan’s top military commander has reaffirmed the armed forces’ determination to eliminate terrorism and secure lasting peace across the country, pledging that the military will press ahead with its campaign with the full backing of the nation.
Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, made the commitment on Tuesday during a visit to Corps Headquarters Peshawar, where he reviewed the security landscape of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the military’s ongoing operations in the restive province.
Security Briefing at Peshawar Corps Headquarters
During the visit, the army chief was briefed on the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, border management measures, and the operational preparedness of formations deployed across the province.
The briefing underscored the military’s continued focus on militancy along the country’s western frontier, a region that has witnessed a surge in attacks in recent years.
Praise for Troops’ Readiness and Morale
Field Marshal Munir commended the high morale, readiness, and professionalism of officers and troops, acknowledging what officials described as their steadfast commitment to safeguarding the country and its people.
He directed formations to remain vigilant and to uphold the highest standards of operational preparedness, signalling that no let-up in the counter-terrorism campaign is expected.
Tribute to Fallen Soldiers
The army chief also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, the martyrs’ monument, and offered Fateha, paying tribute to those who laid down their lives in defence of the homeland and in the fight against terrorism.
He reaffirmed that their supreme sacrifices would never be forgotten.
Upon arrival at the headquarters, Field Marshal Munir was received by the Commander Peshawar Corps.
