RAWALPINDI – Hotels in Rawalpindi’s Faizabad area, shuttered for several days under security measures imposed ahead of a planned sit-in, have been permitted to reopen, while Metro, Green Bus and Blue Bus services have also resumed operations.
Reopening Permitted Until October 2
Police and district administration officials granted permission for hotels operating within the jurisdiction of New Town Police Station to reopen until October 2. The decision marks a partial easing of restrictions that had brought commercial life in the area to a near standstill.
Security Arrangements Remain in Place
Despite the reopening, security arrangements remain in force along Murree Road in Faizabad in view of the proposed PTI long march. Containers are still positioned at some locations, although all routes have been opened to traffic and movement is continuing normally.
Transport Terminals Operational
The Faizabad bus terminals also remained open. However, limited interprovincial transport had affected business activity in the area for several days, with hotel closures and reduced transport services causing a decline in commercial activity and leaving the area relatively deserted.
Business Activity Returning to Normal
Commercial activity has begun returning to normal following the permission for hotels to reopen. Educational institutions in Rawalpindi also remained open as usual, while Metro, Green Bus and Blue Bus services resumed operations, restoring a key element of the city’s public transit network.
