Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has declared that the Palestine issue remains central to the collective consciousness of the Muslim Ummah, accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire in Gaza on a daily basis.
Addressing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Palestine Committee, Dar said the six-member body carried a responsibility to mobilise political and diplomatic support for the Palestinian people, and stressed the need for immediate attention to the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and Gaza.
Dar Condemns Al-Aqsa Incursions
The deputy prime minister strongly condemned Israeli violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, stating that incursions by extremist Israeli settlers into the mosque compound constituted violations of international law.
He called for the legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and all Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem to be preserved.
Pakistan Backs Gaza Peace Plan
Dar said Pakistan supported the full implementation of the Gaza peace plan and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
He further stated that the reconstruction of Gaza and its governance arrangements should remain under Palestinian leadership, and affirmed Pakistan’s support for accountability for violations of international and humanitarian law.
Recognition for Mediation Efforts
The foreign minister appreciated efforts by the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza.
