PESHAWAR — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has launched a scathing attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing the party of positioning itself as a facilitator of terrorism and questioning whether it is deliberately creating an environment in which militants can operate with impunity.
Governor Questions PTI’s Security Stance
In a statement posted on X, Kundi said PTI’s actions and repeated compromises had raised serious questions about the party’s commitment to combating militancy in the province.
“Should these not have been the priorities of a provincial government whose own province is bleeding? PTI exposes itself as a facilitator of terrorism,” Kundi wrote. “Their actions and repeated compromises raise serious questions about whether it is facilitating the very environment in which terrorists operate freely in KP.”
Provincial Government Accused of Abandoning Security Commitments
The governor said the provincial government had chosen to back away from its security commitments rather than accept responsibility for the fight against terrorism.
He stressed that protecting the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be the foremost priority of any provincial administration.
“Instead of taking ownership of the war against terrorism and protecting our people, the provincial government has backed away from commitments on security,” Kundi said. “This is shameful and an act of pure cowardice.”
Kundi Describes Retreat as Cowardice
The governor characterised the provincial government’s position on security matters as deeply concerning, stating that retreating from the fight against terrorism amounted to cowardice.
