Cross-Border Operation Targets Taliban Infrastructure
Pakistan’s military has launched a significant series of airstrikes inside Afghanistan, targeting infrastructure linked to the Afghan Taliban and other militant groups. The operation, codenamed Ghazab lil-Haq, represents a major escalation in cross-border military action.
Key Targets and Objectives
Security sources report that over 65 terror support locations across Afghanistan have been targeted. Key strikes include:
- Destruction of oil storage sites at Kandahar airfield.
- Airstrikes on the infrastructure of Kabul’s 313 Corps.
- Targeting of militant camps in Paktia province, including the Tarawo and Sherinaw camps.
- Neutralization of multiple Afghan Taliban border posts in the Zhob, Arandu, Kurram, and Tull sectors.
Officials state the operations aim to degrade the operational capabilities of groups using Afghan soil to launch attacks into Pakistan.
Recovery of Russian-Made Weapons
In a significant development, security forces recovered Russian-made heavy grenade launchers from vacated Taliban posts along the border. This discovery has raised questions about the sourcing of militant weaponry.
Ongoing Ground and Air Campaign
The operation combines aerial bombardment with ground actions. Security forces recently thwarted an infiltration attempt by militants near North Waziristan. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar claimed that 641 Afghan Taliban and other militants have been eliminated since the operation began.
Security sources emphasize that Operation Ghazab lil-Haq is ongoing and will continue “until the set objectives are achieved,” signaling a sustained campaign against cross-border militant threats.
