Security forces eliminated seven terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations in Pakistan’s restive North Waziristan district, the military’s media wing announced on Tuesday.
Operations in Mir Ali and Spinwam
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an operation in the Mir Ali area resulted in an intense fire exchange. Troops effectively engaged the location of what the ISPR described as “Indian-proxy Fitna al-Khawarij” militants, killing six terrorists.
A simultaneous operation in the Spinwam area led to the killing of one more militant. The ISPR stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain individuals, who were allegedly involved in terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and the target killing of civilians.
Ongoing Counter-Terrorism Campaign
The military stated that sanitization operations are continuing in the areas to eliminate any remaining threats. These operations are part of the broader “Azm-e-Istehkam” (Resolve for Stability) vision, a relentless campaign by security forces and law enforcement agencies aimed at eradicating what Pakistan terms foreign-sponsored terrorism.
Rising Security Challenges
The operations come amid a sharp increase in terrorist attacks in Pakistan, particularly in the bordering provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban’s return to power in Kabul in 2021.
A recent police report highlighted the severity of the situation in KP, noting that the province recorded over 600 terror incidents in the first eight months of 2025 alone, resulting in the deaths of at least 79 police personnel and 138 civilians.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban government to prevent its territory from being used by militants launching cross-border attacks, an issue that has recently fueled tensions and led to exchanges of fire along the border.
