RAWALPINDI — Pakistan’s 16-member squad, captained by Shaheen Shah Afridi, launched its preparations for the upcoming One-Day International tri-nation series with an intensive three-hour training session at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
The session, which ran from 4pm to 7pm local time, was overseen by the team’s full coaching staff, including head coach Mike Hesson, batting coach Mike Smith, bowling coach Shaun Tait and fielding coach Mansoor Amjad.
Full Squad Put Through Its Paces
With a congested 50-over calendar ahead, the session combined skill work and practice for all 16 squad members, with every player given an opportunity to bat in the nets.
The pace battery — Shaheen, Haris Rauf, Razaullah, Faheem Ashraf and Naseem Shah — worked on their rhythm under the watchful eye of Tait, the former Australia fast bowler.
At the other end, the spin contingent of Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Arafat Minhas and Sufyan Moqim bowled lengthy spells as the team management assessed its slow-bowling options.
Fixtures Across Two Venues
Pakistan will face Sri Lanka on 18 October and England on 20 October in Rawalpindi, before the series shifts to Lahore, where the hosts take on England on 25 October and Sri Lanka on 27 October.
The squad is scheduled to train at the same Rawalpindi venue on Friday and Saturday, again from 4pm to 7pm, as it builds towards the opening fixture.
