Pakistan’s women’s cricket team secured the bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games on Tuesday, defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs in the third-place playoff at Korogi Sports Park.
Fatima Sana Leads Pakistan to Competitive Total
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Pakistan posted 145 for eight in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Fatima Sana anchored the innings with a brisk 45 off just 30 deliveries, striking three fours and three sixes. Opener Gull Feroza provided valuable support at the top of the order with 31 runs.
Bangladesh’s bowling attack shared the wickets around, with Nahida Akter, Shorna Akter and Ritu Moni each claiming two scalps, while Sanjida Akter chipped in with one.
Umme Hani Strikes as Bangladesh Falter in Chase
Chasing 146 for victory, Bangladesh struggled to build momentum and finished on 114 for seven. Umme Hani spearheaded Pakistan’s bowling effort with three wickets, while Fatima Sana, Tasmiya Rubab, Nashra Sandhu and Ayesha Zafar each took one wicket to seal the result.
Road to the Podium
The bronze medal follows Pakistan’s elimination from gold-medal contention, having suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka in the semifinal. Sri Lanka and India are set to contest the gold-medal match later in the tournament.
