LAHORE — The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab arrested 13 terrorists during 98 intelligence-based operations conducted across the province, a CTD spokesperson said, as authorities seized a cache of explosives and detained dozens more suspects in coordinated combing raids.
Suspected RAW-Linked Operative Among Those Held
According to the spokesperson, a suspected RAW-linked terrorist identified as Wajid was arrested in Pakpattan. The other arrested suspects were identified as Usman, Naeem, Abdul Mannan, Osama, Usman, Hasan and Babar, among others.
Explosive material, one hand grenade, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 12 detonators and 35 feet of fuse wire were recovered from the possession of the arrested suspects, the spokesperson said.
The CTD added that 13 cases had been registered against the arrested terrorists.
Combing Operations Across Punjab
During the current week, the CTD, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, also conducted 1,595 combing operations across Punjab.
- A total of 55,416 people were checked during these operations.
- 52 suspects were arrested as a result of the checks.
The spokesperson said the CTD was continuing its operations as part of efforts to ensure a safe Punjab.
