An 18-year-old man has died after being savagely beaten by several attackers near the Evry-Courcouronnes RER station in the Essonne department, south of Paris. The public prosecutor’s office confirmed on Monday, September 29, that a murder investigation has been launched into the fatal assault.
According to Public Prosecutor Grégoire Dulin, the victim was assaulted by a group of young men around 5:30 PM on Monday in the vicinity of the commuter train station. Emergency services attempted to revive the teenager, but he succumbed to his injuries an hour later, at 6:32 PM.
The Evry public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into voluntary homicide (murder), criminal conspiracy, and aggravated assault resulting in serious injuries. This information was also confirmed by the French newspaper Le Parisien.
As of Tuesday morning, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident. The case has been assigned to the Essonne territorial crime unit for further investigation.
