During the chaos, 42-year-old Syrian citizen Aladdin Alhalabi, who works for Foodora, intervened by driving his vehicle into the suspect in an effort to stop him. This decisive action potentially saved further lives, and the police have commended Alhalabi for his quick-thinking intervention, which they believe prevented additional harm.
A comprehensive search was launched by the police to secure the area and ensure that the attacker was acting alone. Investigations confirmed that Ahmad J. acted independently. It was also revealed that he was in the process of seeking asylum in Austria, with his documentation in order. Authorities are probing whether the suspect shouted any religious slogans during the attack.
