Surprise December Launch on the Horizon
Following the September release of the Xiaomi 17 series, the company’s top-tier model, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, may be arriving much sooner than anticipated. According to a new leak from tipster Smart Pikachu, Xiaomi is preparing to launch the device in China this month, with a potential announcement date of December 18. This timeline is notably earlier than previous “Ultra” models, which have typically debuted in February.
Camera Specs and Expected Features
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to retain a 1-inch-type main camera sensor, positioning it as one of the last flagships to feature this hardware. However, reports indicate it may move away from a secondary zoom camera in favor of a single, enhanced periscope zoom lens. Under the hood, the device is anticipated to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, matching its series siblings.
Pricing and Global Availability
The flagship is rumored to launch at a price point similar to its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. While a Chinese launch appears imminent, a global release is not expected until around February, potentially coinciding with the Mobile World Congress (MWC) where it may debut alongside other international Xiaomi 17 models.
