ISLAMABAD — President Asif Ali Zardari has extended his felicitations to German President Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the people of Germany on the occasion of the Day of German Unity, observed annually on October 3.
In a message marking the occasion, the president described Germany as a trusted partner of Pakistan and said bilateral relations between the two nations continue to expand across a wide range of sectors.
Growing Cooperation Across Key Sectors
According to the president’s message, Pakistan-Germany ties have deepened in the following areas:
- Political dialogue and diplomatic engagement
- Economic and trade cooperation
- Energy partnerships
- Cultural and educational exchanges
- Scientific and technological collaboration
President Zardari also acknowledged Germany’s significant role within the European Union and its contribution to strengthening Pakistan’s relations with the bloc.
Commitment to Stronger Friendship
The president expressed hope of working closely with President Steinmeier to further promote bonds of friendship and mutual respect between Pakistan and Germany, emphasizing benefits for the peoples of both countries.
The Day of German Unity commemorates the reunification of Germany in 1990 and is celebrated as the country’s national day.
