New footage released by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has provided a rare glimpse into what military analysts describe as vast underground “missile cities.” The video, disseminated on social media, shows extensive tunnels housing numerous medium and long-range air defense missile launchers and large stockpiles of interceptor missiles.
A Deep and Complex Network
The fortified site, constructed beneath mountainous terrain, is shown to be of considerable depth. Journalist Farzad Seifikaran, cited by the specialized site Militarnyi, described the facilities on platform X as forming “complex, extensive, deep, and multi-layered networks,” where internal access between different sections is “neither simple nor easy.” The installation features an integrated rail network to transport missiles between storage areas and launch points, a system the IRGC first publicly presented in 2020.
Showcasing the Khordad-15 System
Among the systems featured is the Iranian-made Khordad-15 surface-to-air missile system, first introduced in 2019. This system employs guided Sayyad-3 missiles to intercept aerial targets. According to Iranian military officials, the Khordad-15 can track up to six different targets simultaneously and is designed to engage both aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles at ranges of up to 150 kilometers. The IRGC claims these systems have been used to shoot down an F-35 fighter jet.
The release of this video comes amid ongoing regional tensions and serves as a public display of Iran’s advanced and heavily fortified military infrastructure, designed to protect key assets from potential aerial threats.
