ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared on Saturday that Pakistan, Turkiye and Saudi Arabia are now aligned in a trilateral commitment to shared security and collective defence, marking a significant shift in regional strategic cooperation.
In a formal message congratulating Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the people of Turkiye on Victory Day, the prime minister underscored the deepening bond between Islamabad and Ankara while explicitly framing Saudi Arabia as an integral partner in this emerging security architecture.
Historic Victory, Modern Alliance
August 30 commemorates the historic triumph achieved under the leadership of Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, a day that Sharif said symbolises the Turkish nation’s proud legacy of courage and national determination.
“Pakistan pays tribute to the Turkish people for their unwavering resolve,” Sharif stated, drawing a direct line from Turkiye’s foundational victory to the present-day strategic alignment.
Makkah Agreement as Cornerstone
The prime minister specifically pointed to the joint defence agreement signed in Makkah as a concrete manifestation of the Pakistan-Turkiye strategic partnership. This reference signals that the trilateral framework involving Saudi Arabia is not merely rhetorical but grounded in formalised defence commitments.

Sharif described Pakistan-Turkiye relations as “ties of hearts,” strengthened by centuries of shared faith, history and struggle. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to further strengthen its strategic partnership with Turkiye, vowing that cooperation between the two nations would be deepened across all sectors.
“Shared prosperity and security of Pakistan and Turkiye remain a common commitment,” the prime minister said, expressing hope that the bond of friendship and brotherhood would continue to grow stronger from generation to generation.
The announcement comes at a time of intensifying geopolitical realignments across the Middle East and South Asia, with defence collaboration increasingly viewed as a pillar of economic and diplomatic stability.
