PESHAWAR — Pakistani boxer Usman Wazir has extended his winning run on the international stage, defeating an Indonesian opponent to claim his 19th world-ranking victory and secure qualification for the WBA Gold title.
Speaking after the bout, Wazir confirmed the milestone and said the win has positioned him for a shot at the prestigious WBA Gold belt, with an official announcement expected soon.
Victory Dedicated to Security Forces and Martyrs
The boxer dedicated his latest triumph to the Corps Commander Peshawar, the Pakistan Army and the police, expressing gratitude for what he described as their continued backing of his career.
Wazir also paid tribute to those who have lost their lives amid the ongoing wave of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying the victory was for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.
“The Pakistan Army has always supported me,” he said.
Target Set on Twentieth Fight
Looking ahead, Wazir said he will pursue his twentieth professional fight for Pakistan and voiced hope that the government will extend its support as he prepares for the next stage of his career.
