NAGOYA — Pakistani athletes will compete across fencing, shooting, tennis, squash, volleyball and athletics on Sunday as the Asian Games programme moves into a busy day of qualification rounds and knockout fixtures.
Officials released the full schedule for the country’s contingent, with action beginning early in the morning and continuing through the day across multiple venues.
Fencing and Shooting Open the Day
Pakistan’s fencing team opens the day’s competition against Qatar in the round of 32, with the match scheduled to start at 5:30 am. The fixture offers Pakistan an early opportunity to advance deeper into the knockout bracket.
In shooting, Rabia Kabir will represent Pakistan in the qualification round of the 25-metre pistol individual event, beginning at 5:40 am.
Tennis Contingent Faces Regional Rivals
The tennis competition features a heavy Pakistani presence. In the first round of the men’s singles, Muzammil Murtaza takes on Jordan’s Zaid Al-Mashni at 6 am, while Pakistan’s men’s doubles team meets Mongolia at 7 am.
The women’s singles draw also brings early tests. Ashna Sohail faces Yulia Potansheva of Kazakhstan at 7 am, and Maheen Aftab Qureshi meets Thailand’s Patcharin Chepchand at 8 am.
In the mixed doubles first round, Pakistan plays Kazakhstan twice — the first match at 10 am and the second at 11 am.
Athletics, Squash and Volleyball in Focus
On the field, Ansar Abbas will compete in the men’s long jump qualification at 8:40 am.
In squash, Muhammad Irfan and Noor Zaman are both in action in the men’s singles competition from 8:45 am.
Pakistan’s men’s volleyball team faces Kazakhstan at 9 am, a match that could prove significant in the group standings.
