Security forces killed eight Indian-sponsored militants in three separate intelligence-based operations across Balochistan, the military’s media wing announced on Sunday, in a fresh wave of counterterrorism activity targeting militant hideouts in the restive province.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on October 17 following intelligence reports about the presence of militants affiliated with an Indian proxy group. The raids spanned Quetta, Nushki and Khuzdar districts.
Foiled Roadblock Attempt in Quetta
In the Panjpai area of Quetta district, security personnel intercepted and thwarted an attempt by militants to establish a roadblock aimed at disrupting local traffic. Five militants were killed during the operation, the ISPR stated.
Hideouts Targeted in Nushki and Khuzdar
In a separate operation in Nushki district, security forces raided a suspected militant hideout. Following an exchange of fire, two militants were killed, and weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site.
In Khuzdar district, forces targeted another suspected hideout, killing one militant. The operation also yielded a significant recovery of 490 kilogrammes of explosives, according to the military’s media wing.
Sanitisation Operations Underway
The ISPR said sanitisation operations were continuing in the affected areas to locate and eliminate any remaining militants and to prevent them from regrouping.
The military’s media wing reaffirmed that the counterterrorism campaign under Vision Azm-i-Istehkam would continue at full pace to eradicate the threat of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
