Investigation Advances Following 2024 Allegations
French actress Adèle Exarchopoulos filed a formal complaint in October 2024 against her former partner, rapper Doums, for domestic violence, according to judicial sources. The investigation has progressed, resulting in the rapper being taken into police custody in Paris on Thursday afternoon.
Legal Proceedings Underway
Doums, whose real name is Mamadou Coulibaly, is being questioned by Paris police for “habitual violence by a spouse” and violation of a protection order. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed the custody, stating an investigation was launched following the October 2024 complaint alleging incidents occurring between 2017 and 2024.
“Following a complaint filed in October 2024 reporting acts of violence by a spouse or former spouse between 2017 and 2024, an investigation was conducted by the police prefecture under the direction of the Paris prosecutor’s office,” the public ministry explained.
Actress Sought to Avoid Media Attention
Sources close to the case indicate Exarchopoulos, who shares a young son with Doums, had hoped to keep the matter private and expressed regret about the custody information becoming public. The prosecutor’s office stated it does not anticipate further communication until a decision is made following the custody period.
Previous Domestic Violence Allegations
This marks the second recent domestic violence case involving the rapper. Earlier in January, Doums was placed in custody following a complaint from his current partner alleging violence at their home in the presence of their two children and a cousin. He was released under judicial supervision pending a trial scheduled for February 2nd in Créteil.
Background of Those Involved
Doums is a former member of the collective L’Entourage, having collaborated with prominent French rappers including Alpha Wann, Deen Burbigo and Nekfeu. He also formed the duo 2Fingz with the late artist Népal.
Adèle Exarchopoulos, now 32, gained international recognition after winning the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2013 for “Blue Is the Warmest Color” (“La Vie d’Adèle”). She has since established herself as one of France’s most accomplished actresses, earning a César Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2024 for “Je verrai toujours vos visages.”
