MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mirpur has announced the results of the 2026 annual Matriculation (Secondary School Certificate Part-II) examinations, revealing a remarkable dominance by female students who secured the lion’s share of top positions across both Science and General groups.
According to the official results, female students claimed all three top positions in the General Group and also dominated the Science Group, securing the joint first position along with several other top slots. The outstanding performance underscores a continuing trend of academic excellence among girls in the region.
Science Group Results Highlight Fierce Competition
In the Science Group for female students, the competition was exceptionally tight, with three students tying for the top spot. Samia Chaudhry of Peace Educational Institute Sehnsa, Kotli, Imama Muzammil of Red Foundation College Mirpur, and Mehroosh Naeem Abbasi of Red Foundation High School Singer Bathara, Bagh, jointly secured first position with an impressive 1,184 marks out of a total of 1,200.
The second position was also shared, with Makhzara Shahid and Natalia Mehboob both securing 1,183 marks. Meanwhile, the third position witnessed a five-way tie, as Warda Amjad, Adeeba Zaheer, Momina Shahid, Sana Ejaz, and Aiman Ejaz each secured 1,182 marks, reflecting the high level of academic rigor among female candidates.
In the male Science Group, Abdullah Riaz of Government High School Gorah, Sudhanoti, emerged as the top performer with 1,178 marks. Ahmed Tahir Raja of Red Foundation High School DhirKot, Bagh, and Sarmad Hafeez Awan of Red Foundation School Bagnam, Muzaffarabad, jointly secured second position with 1,176 marks. Raja Hassan Ali, also from Red Foundation School Bagnam, secured third position with 1,175 marks.
General Group Achievements
The General Group results further highlighted female academic prowess. Faryal Imran of Government Girls High School Makhyala, Bagh, topped the female category with 1,127 marks. Imama Fatima of Kashmir Public School Phagwari, Kotli, secured second position with 1,110 marks, while Amreen Mazhar of Royal Model School Bhimber claimed third position with 1,108 marks.
Among male students in the General Group, private candidate Abdullah Masood Tauheedi from Bagh secured first position with 1,117 marks, demonstrating that non-traditional educational paths can yield exceptional results. Muhammad Ayan of Government Pilot High School Bagh secured second position with 1,110 marks, and private candidate Muhammad Areeb Khan from Bagh took third position with 1,102 marks.
Toppers Share Their Success Stories
Samia Chaudhry, who secured joint first position in the Science Group, attributed her success to divine blessings, her parents’ prayers, and her teachers’ guidance. “I intend to pursue higher education and serve my country,” she said, expressing her future aspirations.
Imama Muzammil, another joint first-position holder, described the achievement as a moment of immense happiness and honor. She emphasized that consistent hard work and effective time management were the cornerstones of her success, crediting her parents and teachers for their unwavering support.
Mehroosh Naeem Abbasi, the third joint first-position holder, shared her strategy for academic excellence. “I maintained a regular study routine and devoted additional time to difficult subjects,” she explained, advising fellow students to embrace hard work, discipline, and consistency.
Abdullah Riaz, who topped the Science Group among male students, expressed pride in his achievement and credited his parents and teachers. He voiced his ambition to pursue higher education and contribute positively to his region and country.
Faryal Imran, the top female student in the General Group, expressed her joy upon learning of her result. She stressed the importance of providing female students with greater opportunities to advance in education, highlighting the potential that girls have demonstrated through these results.
Abdullah Masood Tauheedi, the top male student in the General Group as a private candidate, called his achievement a special honor. He noted that private candidates can also achieve outstanding results through proper guidance and consistent hard work, serving as an inspiration for students outside the traditional school system.
The 2026 matriculation results reflect a clear pattern of female academic dominance in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, with girls outperforming their male counterparts in both breadth and depth of top-position achievements. This trend not only highlights the effectiveness of educational initiatives targeting girls but also points to a promising future for female leadership in the region’s professional and academic spheres.
