Bahrain’s Interior Ministry has announced the arrest of six individuals, including national football team player Ahmed Mirza Mousa, for allegedly “misleading public opinion” by publishing videos related to Iranian military actions against the kingdom.
Charges of Glorifying Hostile Acts
In an official statement, the ministry said its Cybercrimes Directorate monitored the suspects filming and publishing clips concerning the effects of “Iranian aggression.” The statement alleged the content showed “sympathy and glorification” of hostile acts.
The circulation of these clips through their social media accounts reportedly misled the public, spread fear among citizens and residents, and harmed public security and order, according to the authorities.
All necessary legal procedures have been taken, and the individuals have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
Profile of the Accused Player
Ahmed Mirza Mousa, a 32-year-old right-back, has represented several Bahraini clubs, most notably Al-Hadd and Al-Khaldiya. He has also played internationally for the Bahrain national team, including at the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup.
His arrest places a prominent sports figure at the center of a national security case, highlighting the sensitive political climate in the Gulf region.
