China Reaffirms Complete Support for Pakistan’s Stability and Development
China has reiterated its full support for Pakistan’s stability and development. Both countries have emphasized effective action against terrorist groups in Afghanistan, support for Palestinian self-determination rights, and efforts towards resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions. Significantly, agreements have been signed between Pakistan and China for increasing cement production, renewable energy cooperation, and coal gasification projects.
The signing ceremony took place in Beijing and was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Shergil Memon, and Senator Saleem Mandviwala. The agreements include a daily increase of 5000 tons in cement production in Pakistan, cooperation on renewable energy projects, and a memorandum of understanding on coal gasification projects.
Prior to this, President Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation in various sectors between the two countries. Both leaders also discussed the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). President Zardari stated that Pakistan is China’s steadfast ally and that a robust ironclad friendship exists between the two nations. Chinese President Xi Jinping remarked that China and Pakistan are strategic partners throughout all seasons.
President Zardari also extended an invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Pakistan. Both countries have stated in a joint declaration that upgrading CPEC to create modern infrastructure and boosting Chinese investment in special economic zones in Pakistan is essential. They have also agreed to strengthen trade relations, enhance cooperation in science and technology sectors, and further fortify defense and security collaboration.
China has emphasized the need to implement United Nations resolutions for resolving the Kashmir issue, while also highlighting the importance of effective action against terrorist groups in Afghanistan. President Asif Ali Zardari invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Pakistan, a gesture that was accepted, indicating both countries’ desire to strengthen their relations further.
