In a tragic incident on Sunday morning, five individuals lost their lives in a shooting in Peshawar’s Badhber locality. According to police officials, the incident occurred around 2 AM in the Mashokhel area when the assailant opened fire indiscriminately on a vehicle. Authorities report that the motive behind the attack appears to be personal enmity, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.
This incident is the latest in a series of violent episodes linked to personal vendettas in the region. Last month, a similar altercation in Peshawar’s Tehkal area resulted in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to six others, with police attributing the violence to a longstanding feud. In South Waziristan’s Wana area, three people, including a police officer, were killed in two separate incidents stemming from old rivalries.
Additionally, in the Gul Kada area of Saidu Sharif, unknown assailants shot and killed a senior lawyer and his brother, further highlighting the ongoing issue of violence related to personal feuds. Recently, a 65-year-old Afghan national was fatally shot in Karachi’s Baldia-8 on Wednesday evening. SHO Saeedabad, Idris Bangash, reported that the victim was approached by a phone call while reciting the Quran after prayers at a mosque. Upon stepping outside to answer the call, he was shot by two suspects on a motorcycle who then fled the scene. The victim was transported to Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities suspect that personal animosity may have played a role in this killing as well.
These incidents underscore the persistent challenge of personal enmity-fueled violence in various parts of the region, necessitating increased efforts by law enforcement to address and mitigate such conflicts.
