Incident Details and Official Statement
An explosive device was hurled into a beauty salon in central Grenoble, France, on Friday afternoon, resulting in six people sustaining minor injuries. According to a police source, the grenade was launched around 3 p.m., shattering the establishment’s storefront. Prosecutor Etienne Manteaux stated the device was “not intended to kill” but rather to intimidate, highlighting what he called “an escalation in the disinhibition of delinquents.”
Nature of the Attack and Aftermath
The prosecutor detailed that two individuals were involved: one threw the explosive object, which reportedly lacked a significant charge or projecting metal fragments, while the other filmed the incident. The video has already appeared on social media. Among the six injured was a five-year-old child. None of the victims required hospital transport.
Eyewitness Account of the Chaos
Local residents described a scene of shock and confusion. Julie, the owner of a nearby beauty salon, recounted hearing a “huge detonation” and the screams of three young girls accompanied by a child. “I rushed out; it seemed like a huge car accident, but passersby told us it was a grenade thrown into the institute next door,” she said. “There were a lot of people, and it was complete chaos.” The investigation into the attack is ongoing.
