Pakistani actor and filmmaker Hareem Farooq has said she made a deliberate decision a decade ago to stop letting other people’s opinions shape her life, offering a candid response to the criticism and trolling she regularly faces on social media.
Farooq, who recently appeared alongside Faisal Qureshi in the Punjabi-language film Mango Jatt and has been attending promotional events for the project, addressed the subject in a recent interview.
A Decade-Old Decision
The actor said she had resolved ten years ago not to worry about what people said about her. She noted that critics and social media trolls will always find someone to target, but that dwelling on their comments serves no purpose.
Farooq added that she does not read comments about herself online, preferring instead to concentrate on her work and keep moving forward in her life.
Promoting Mango Jatt
The remarks come as Farooq promotes Mango Jatt, a Punjabi-language release that pairs her with Faisal Qureshi. She has made a series of public appearances in connection with the film.
Her comments place her among a growing number of Pakistani entertainment figures who have publicly discussed the pressures of online scrutiny and the strategies they use to shield themselves from it.
