The player auction list for the fifth season of the DP World International League T20 (ILT20) has been unveiled, with Pakistan captain Babar Azam and fellow international stars among more than 200 cricketers set to go under the hammer.
The auction will take place on October 1 at the ICC Academy in Dubai, drawing talent from 23 countries as franchises rebuild their squads for the upcoming campaign.
Three-Tier Base Price Structure
Players have been divided into three base-price categories of $80,000, $40,000 and $10,000, with the top bracket boasting an array of global headline acts.
The highest-priced category includes:
- Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman (Pakistan)
- Phil Salt, Tom Banton, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Alex Hales and Chris Woakes (England)
- Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Afghanistan)
- Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka)
- Faf du Plessis (South Africa)
- Liam Livingstone (England)
- Alzarri Joseph (West Indies)
- Naseem Shah (Pakistan)
Mid-Tier and Lower-Bracket Talent
The $40,000 category features Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan alongside Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and Gulbadin Naib, West Indies pacer Jayden Seales, South Africa spinner Tabraiz Shamsi, Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Kusal Perera and Sharaf Islam.
Among those listed in the $10,000 bracket are South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks, Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Scotland’s George Munsey, New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi and England seamer Matthew Potts.
All players from the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia will enter the auction at a base price of $10,000.
Squad Rules and Playing XI Requirements
Each franchise will hold a right-to-match option for one former UAE player, giving teams the chance to retain local talent.
Squads must contain a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 23 players. The playing XI for every match must include at least two UAE players, two Afghan players and one player from another associate nation.
Each franchise has been allocated a separate auction purse, with MI Emirates entering the auction with the largest budget of any team.
