Comprehensive Win Revives Campaign After Opening Loss
India A delivered a powerful performance to defeat arch-rivals Pakistan A by eight wickets in the ACC Asia Cup Rising Stars Women’s 2026 at the Tardthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok on Sunday. The emphatic victory, achieved with a massive 59 balls to spare, marks a strong rebound for the Indian side after a surprise loss in their tournament opener.
Bowlers Set Up Dominant Win
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Pakistan A were dismantled for a meager 93 runs in 19.1 overs. The innings never gained momentum, collapsing to 21 for 4 within the powerplay. Only three batters reached double figures: Shawaal Zulfiqar (23), Gull Rukh (21), and Anosha Nasir (17).
India A’s bowling attack was clinical. Saima Thakor, Radha Yadav, and Prema Rawat each took two wickets, applying relentless pressure and ensuring Pakistan could not build any substantial partnerships.
Vrinda’s Blitz Seals the Chase
Chasing a modest target of 94, India A suffered an early setback, losing opener Humaira Kazi on the first ball. However, Dinesh Vrinda and Anushka Sharma combined for a decisive 79-run partnership that effectively ended the contest.
Vrinda was the star, remaining unbeaten on a blistering 59 runs off just 29 deliveries, an innings decorated with 12 boundaries. Anushka Sharma provided solid support with 24 runs before her dismissal. The chase was completed in just 10.1 overs.
For Pakistan A, Waheeda Akhtar and Momina Riasat managed to take a wicket each.
Group A Context
Both teams are competing in Group A alongside Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Pakistan A began their campaign with a win over Nepal, while India A suffered an unexpected defeat to the UAE. This victory revitalizes India A’s position in the group as the tournament progresses.
