PESHAWAR — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has declared that peace is indispensable to the province’s development, insisting that law and order remains the government’s foremost priority and that no compromise will be made on the issue.
The governor made the remarks during a meeting with Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Ameer Professor Ibrahim at the party’s headquarters in Peshawar, according to Dunya News. The two sides discussed the province’s overall situation, law and order, governance, ongoing development projects and public grievances, and reviewed proposals to tackle the province’s challenges, speed up development and open employment opportunities for young people.
Agriculture Touted as Economic Backbone
Turning to the economy, Governor Kundi described agriculture as the backbone of the national economy, saying its development could help stabilize the economy and generate jobs. He noted that bringing the agricultural lands of the southern districts into productive use could help meet the province’s agricultural needs and stimulate economic activity.
He also pointed to information technology as a key source of employment for young people, arguing that promoting a range of sectors is necessary to harness youth talent and support economic growth.
Police Welfare and Civic Action
The governor said the welfare of police personnel and the families of police martyrs remains among his top priorities. He also referred to continued action against sanitation problems and encroachments across the province.
Call for Political Cooperation
Kundi stressed the need for Jamaat-e-Islami’s support and for cooperation among political parties to resolve outstanding federal issues, secure the province’s rights and address public concerns.
Maintaining law and order, he reiterated, is his foremost priority — a commitment he said would not be sacrificed as his government pursues development and employment goals.
