Officials from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) have apprehended the owners of a furnace mill in Lahore’s Shalimar area for stealing electricity using a mobile transformer. LESCO Chief Shahid Haider confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused, and the process of issuing a detection bill has been initiated.
According to Haider, the owners of the furnace mill illegally installed a mobile transformer to pilfer electricity. He further revealed that just days earlier, a significant case of electricity theft was uncovered at a steel mill in the same area. Both mills have been fined over one billion rupees, and detection bill procedures have been launched against them.
The LESCO chief emphasized that influential electricity thieves are being apprehended with the assistance of Rangers. He disclosed that a special unit comprising officials from ISI, MI, and Rangers has been established within LESCO to combat power theft and expedite action against defaulters. The unit’s primary objective is to enforce stringent measures against electricity theft and accelerate legal proceedings against offenders.
LESCO officials stated that the ongoing campaign against power theft has already led to the arrest of several major offenders, with legal actions underway. Shahid Haider urged the public to refrain from engaging in illegal activities such as electricity theft and to adhere to the law.
These measures are part of a broader campaign in Lahore aimed at curbing electricity theft, improving the power supply system, and preventing illegal activities. LESCO officials affirmed their commitment to maintaining strict actions against power theft and ensuring that no form of illegal activity will be tolerated.
