London Rally Demands End to Indian Occupation of Kashmir

LONDON – A large-scale demonstration erupted in front of the Indian Embassy in London on Wednesday, marking Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir and drawing a diverse crowd united against the revocation of the region’s special status. Protesters, including families with elderly members, women, and children, brandished Kashmiri and Pakistani flags while chanting slogans condemning the Indian occupation.

Protesters Decry Human Rights Violations

The rally served as a vocal platform for participants to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people and to urge the international community to intervene. Demonstrators consistently shouted “Kashmir will become Pakistan” and “Down with Indian aggression,” vowing to persist in their campaign until independence is achieved. Speakers directly accused the Indian Embassy of engaging in anti-Pakistan and anti-Kashmir activities, emphasizing the deep-rooted connection between the two populations. A significant contingent of individuals from occupied Kashmir also joined the protest, amplifying calls for global attention to alleged human rights abuses.

Calls for Self-Determination Intensify

The protest specifically condemned the Indian government’s actions of August 5, 2019, when the special autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked. Demonstrators framed this as an illegal annexation and demanded the restoration of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. The event highlighted a unified stance, with organizers declaring that support for the cause would continue unabated until the occupation ends and the region’s political status is resolved according to UN resolutions.
