Massachusetts: A 30-year-old man in the United States has been accused of exploiting a woman’s identity for seven years to establish romantic relationships with people online and try to lure them towards him. The case came to light when it was revealed that he used personal information of the affected woman to manipulate multiple strangers. The man, named James Florence, targeted seven different women, including a 17-year-old minor. Along with facing seven charges of cyber harassment, he has also admitted guilt to possessing obscene images of minors.
According to details of the case, the affected woman noticed for seven years that various strangers were parking their cars in front of her house. These individuals were actually engaging with someone who was building romantic connections with them, pretending to be someone else, when in reality, it was James Florence. Using the woman’s personal information, he created fake profiles to attract people towards him. Florence created chatbots with artificial intelligence capabilities to provide responses of a sexual nature. These chatbots even provided the address of the affected woman’s house and then asked, “Why don’t you come here?” All of this was done by stealing the affected woman’s personal information.
James Florence stole the affected woman’s undergarments and shared her images on the internet to further attract people towards him. He also obtained all possible information about the affected woman, including her address, date of birth, family details, and other personal information. This harassment continued from 2017 to 2024, leading the affected woman and her husband to alert the police. They installed cameras and a security system in their home for protection. Six other women were also affected in this case, including a minor girl. Florence’s inhumane actions have not only affected the lives of the victims but have also raised a new concern in society.
