BAHAWALPUR — Voting in the NA-168 Bahawalpur by-election is taking place today, with all arrangements for the polls finalised, Dunya News reported. Polling began at 8am and will continue uninterrupted until 5pm.
Seat Vacated After PML-N MNA’s Death
The constituency’s National Assembly seat fell vacant following the death of PML-N MNA Malik Muhammad Iqbal Chanar. In the by-election, Malik Munir Iqbal Chanar is contesting on the PML-N ticket for his father’s vacant seat, while Wali Dad Cheema, son of former federal minister Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema, is running as an independent candidate.
A total of 20 candidates are in the fray in the constituency.

According to election authorities, 483,143 registered voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in NA-168, including 248,529 male and 234,614 female voters.

Security Arrangements
