French actress Nadia Farès, known for her role in “The Crimson Rivers,” is in critical condition after a serious incident at a Paris swimming pool this past weekend. The 57-year-old actress was reportedly swimming laps when she suddenly submerged and did not resurface.
Dramatic Rescue at Blanche Sports Complex
The event occurred around noon on April 12 at the Blanche sports complex pool in Paris’s 9th arrondissement. According to sources cited by Le Parisien, other swimmers noticed Farès motionless in a “yoga position” at the bottom of the pool. One swimmer, assisted by another, dove in to retrieve her.
It is believed Farès remained underwater for approximately three to four minutes before being pulled from the pool. The first rescuer, who had first-aid training, immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), with the second swimmer taking over. Reports indicate a cardiac defibrillator was also used on-site before emergency services arrived.
Investigation Opened as Actress Fights for Life
Although successfully resuscitated at the scene, Nadia Farès was in grave condition. She was placed in a medically induced coma and remains hospitalized. The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the causes of the incident, which is being handled by the local police department.
“No offense has been identified at this stage,” the prosecutor’s office stated. Police have already interviewed one of the rescuers, and footage from security cameras within the pool facility is expected to aid the investigation.
A Career in Film and Television
Nadia Farès gained prominence for her role in the 2000 thriller “The Crimson Rivers,” starring alongside Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel. She has built a steady career in French cinema and television over several decades.
The entertainment community and public await further updates on her condition as the investigation into this alarming incident continues.
