The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has issued a public warning regarding a fake website designed to impersonate its official visa portal, aiming to defraud users online.
Fraudulent Site Details and Official Clarification
According to an official statement, the fraudulent site mimics Nadra’s legitimate visa services and is accessible at the address: https://www.visa.nadragov.online. Nadra has clarified that this website is not affiliated with the authority in any way and is likely operated to steal sensitive personal information or illicit payments from unsuspecting citizens.
Official Portal and Safety Instructions
Citizens are strongly advised to avoid accessing the fake website and to refrain from providing any personal or financial details on it. Nadra emphasized that its only official visa portal is https://visa.nadra.gov.pk. The authority also reminded the public to always verify that they are accessing government services through authentic websites ending with the .gov.pk domain.
Broader Cybersecurity Advisory
In a related development, the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT) revealed that nine fake websites mimicking Nadra’s style and services were blocked in the past month alone for attempting to harvest citizens’ personal data.
The NCERT advisory further instructs the public to:
- Never share personal information without proper verification of the recipient.
- Avoid clicking on suspicious links received via email or SMS messages.
The advisory confirmed that both Nadra and NCERT are actively monitoring such misleading cyber activities and taking necessary action to combat them.
